Help to protect the Petroglyphs

Please distribute widely!

Since 1996, the SAGE Council, formerly known as the Petroglyph Monument Protection
Coalition, has been leading the fight to protect the petroglyphs and our communities
from harmful highway extensions and suburban sprawl. We encourage you to learn more
about the issue and to take action!

It is not too late. Donations are always needed!!

Dear Friends:

In the past week, hundreds of you have donated $25, $50, even $500 to help us save
Petroglyph National Monument in Albuquerque, New Mexico. As you know, we've been
fighting to stop a proposed commuter highway through this Native American sacred site.
Albuquerque's Mayor, Martin Chavez, is attempting to build the Paseo del Norte Extension
through the monument, to help real estate developers in the far northwest part of town. To
fund the road, Mayor Chavez has proposed a Street Bonds package to be considered by
Albuquerque voters on October 28, in 12 short days. We need to raise just $30,000 more
by October 20 to fully fund our television buy. If you have donated already, thank you and
please forward this message. If you have not yet donated, please go to our website TODAY
at www.stoptaxwaste.com and view our television commercial and make an online donation.
Please donate what you can - $25, $50, $100 or $500 to help us preserve this place of
prayer. We need your help.

With much thanks,

Winona LaDuke, Native American activist, White Earth Land Recovery Project
Governor Myron Armijo, Pueblo of Santa Ana
Laurie Weahkee, SAGE Council, Albuquerque, New Mexico

P.S. Time is short - we have until October 20 to place our television buy. Please donate
TODAY at www.stoptaxwaste.com. And please forward this to your friends!

$100K BEFORE OCTOBER 16
Friends, Allies, Colleagues, We need your help!

For fifteen years, we’ve been working to stop a proposed commuter highway from cutting
through Petroglyph National Monument, a Native American sacred site and federally
recognized National Park. Albuquerque’s Mayor Martin Chavez, is attempting to desecrate
this area with this road project, and is seeking funding through Albuquerque’s Street Bond
election on October 28th - a mere two weeks away. We have an aggressive campaign to
stop this bond, but we need your support! Our opponents - the real estate development
industry - have raised $150,000 to fight our campaign. We need to raise $100,000 by
OCTOBER 16 to put our television ad on air. Please make a donation today!

Visit our website at www.stoptaxwaste.com and contribute $25, $50, $100, or $50 0 to
help our campaign.

We need just 4,000 supporters at $2 5 each to reach our goal! We are counting on YOU to
be one of the 4,000 people across the country who can donate at least $25 for this critical
fight to preserve a sacred area. Thank you for your immediate action to protect the
Petroglyphs! For m ore information on the Petroglyph

struggle, visit http://www.sagecouncil.org
