In 1992, I was convicted of the shooting death of a young female
high
school student in Philadelphia - allegedly for a pair of earrings
- a
senseless crime I did not commit. The killer was described as
a dark-
skinned African American male 5'9" to 5'11" or taller.
At the time of the
offence I weighed approximately 125 to 130 pounds. Even the
Pennsylvania Department of Corrections own website lists me at
130
pounds. I am 5'4" in height. At the time of the shooting,
I was in a
different location in Philadelphia. Telephon records could have
easily
substantiated my whereabouts, but my attorney never subpoenaed
the
telephone records to be introduced at trial. I was the lead singer
of an
R&B group called "Sensation". We garned first prize
in several talent
shows, sang at weddings, churches and traveled to a variety of
places in
the country doing gigs. At the time of my arrest in 1991, I was
ready to
sign a contract to a record deal. There was testimony to this
effect at my
trial, and it was not contested by the prosecution. I ask you,
why would
a young artist well on his way to stardom murder someone for a
pair
of earrings? There was no thorough investigation in my case, nor
did I
have competent representation at my trial. As for my interests,
I love
poetry, especially that of Nikki Giovanni and Langston Hughes.
I enjoy
all types of music and am an authority on the subject.
